Immanuel Lutheran Church

Immanuel Lutheran Church-Hay Creek is served by Pastor Lowell S. Sorenson.  A Minnesota native, he was raised in Little Canada, a northeastern suburb of St. Paul.  In 2000, Rev. Sorenson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude (with highest distinction) from Concordia University, St. Paul.  Before graduation, the Faculty of Religion and Theology awarded him with departmental honors for his excellence in theological study.  That same year, the Department of Fine Arts conferred on him the Pro Artibus Award for his musicianship.  Pastor Sorenson is trained in both vocal and keyboard music.  After two years of attending Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Pastor Sorenson received a vicarage assignment at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stevensville, Michigan.  In November 2004, he completed his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary where his emphasis was systematic (doctrinal) theology.

Pastor Sorenson was joined in Holy Matrimony to Sara (nee Hoff) on June the 12th, 1999 at Bethel Lutheran Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Sara is also a summa cum laude graduate and Pro Artibus Award recipient from Concordia University, St. Paul.  She is certified in The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod as a Director of Parish Music.  Sara is the regular organist for Immanuel as well as the choir director.  Sara formerly played with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and served as a section leader.  She is currently teaching private piano and violin lessons.

In February of 2006, Pastor and Sara were blessed with a new addition to their home, an adopted baby girl they named Chloe.  As of July 31st, 2006, the adoption was finalized in the court of Goodhue County.  Chloe is an absolute joy to her parents.
