by Pastor Lowell S. Sorenson.
A
Minnesota
native, he was raised in
Little Canada, a northeastern suburb of
St. Paul. In
2000, Rev. Sorenson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude (with
highest distinction) from
Concordia
University,
St. Paul. Before
graduation, the Faculty of Religion and Theology awarded him with departmental
honors for his excellence in theological study. That same
year, the Department of Fine Arts conferred on him the Pro Artibus Award for
his musicianship. Pastor Sorenson is trained in both vocal
and keyboard music. After two years of attending Concordia
Theological Seminary in
Fort Wayne,
Indiana, Pastor Sorenson
received a vicarage assignment at Christ
Evangelical
Lutheran
Church
in
Stevensville,
Michigan. In
November 2004, he completed his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia
Theological Seminary where his emphasis was systematic (doctrinal) theology.
Pastor
Sorenson was joined in Holy Matrimony to Sara (nee Hoff) on
June the 12th, 1999
at
Bethel
Lutheran
Church
in
St. Paul,
Minnesota. Sara
is also a summa cum laude graduate and Pro Artibus Award recipient from
Concordia
University,
St. Paul. She
is certified in The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod as a Director of Parish
Music. Sara is the regular organist for Immanuel as well as
the choir director. Sara formerly played with the Southwest
Michigan Symphony Orchestra as a violinist and served as a section leader.
She is currently teaching private piano and violin lessons.
In
February of 2006, Pastor and Sara were blessed with a new addition to their
home, an adopted baby girl they named Chloe. As of July 31st,
2006, the adoption was finalized in the court of Goodhue County. Chloe
is an absolute joy to her parents.
